![]() ![]() you know darn well these HDD never are being shown up when in use all these years. Why has NO ONE, (should be included with any Mobile Rack or card!),thought to manufacture simple multiple HDD LED splitter cables so that if you have two or 5 HDDs you can had the HDD LEDs flashing and not have to cut and solder your case wire? Try to find a HDD LED "Y" splitter. Maybe its just wondering where all the drives went because it. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is doing it due to the fact that I have no SATA drives. It keeps blinking, slow and consistent, even when there is no activity. These SATA Hot Swap Trayless mobile racks I have installed like the Startech #HSB100SATBK have a HDD activity LED and a HDD LED wire you are expected to connect to the MB.BUT I would have to disconnect my main Case LED light for the boot drive! Ive recently built a new machine, but its showing some odd behavior involving the HDD LED. These manufacturers always used to include a PCI card in with a new HDD so you could run it at a higher speed and have a HDD LED output on the card BUT NEVER INCLUDE a simple cheap "Y" type splitter in case you were using it as Storage etc. PS.I have been very frustrated for 15 yrs regarding what I see as the lack of being able to connect MULTIPLE HDDs to a computer and HAVE THE HD LEDs working and flashing with use telling you they are working. I hope you had fun with this and you enjoy your new little mod. Still reading? Why? You have reached the end of, w hat ever you wanna call it, and can now make your own decisions again! (Except you have a wife/girlfriend, then you’re totally screwed cuz it’s on her to make decisions for you!). But thats there fault and not mine so let us blame them for that! Seagate FireCuda Gaming Hub External Hard Drive HDD 8TB - USB 3.2, Customizable RGB LED lighting, Dual forward-facing USB for Desktop PC with Rescue Services (STKK8000400) 42,919. Now it’ s time to put back together your x-box and test your new mod, of which, you can be unbelievably proud of– in case you didn't screw it up somewhere… like me on the 1.6 because I wasn’t aware that MS choose to lable the resistors wrong (remember?). ![]() Last but not least solder the end of the resitor to the IDE pin. Now solder your 10K resitor to the other end of the wire and put some heat shrink on it. It’s the first pin on the left side on top of the connector. Measure how much wire you need to get to the IDE pin shown in the Picture (Don`t forget the length of your resistor.). Now that this is done aim for the IDE connector. So when you have found the resistor, solder one end of the wire to the left side of the resistor. (Yap, they are both on the same spot and do the same but M$ choose to lable those differently.) When you have an v1.0 to v1.4 you should search for the resistor R3V2 (The v1.5 unicorne should have it one the same place, I guess).įor v1.6 or v1.6b search for the resistor R3V3. Ok, lets start by tear down your x-box like you normaly do and put the mainboard with the bottom side up in front you. At this time you can choose the last time by your self until the tutorial is done! Optional : A beer a cup of coffee or tee. To do that mod you don’t need an LED since we make use of the LED on the eject botton which give us a nice and clean look.Į ach time the hard drive read or write data, the orange (or “amber” if you prefer) led lights up and that will make you happy (Note: This just works for a man, not woman!). Hard drive activity on the eject button led. ![]()
